| Since 1955, the PAL has been run by parents and volunteers. The league is not funded by the town and therefore relies upon the generosity, support, and sweat equity of its member families and local businesses in the community.
Facilities & Safety Manager: Chris Murphy Spring 2013 Maintenance Schedule (see attachment for team dates):
PAL Spring 2013 Maintenance Schedule.xls
Specific for week of 5/13/13: Some tasks that need doin’… - Mow all three fields on Tuesday AND THURSDAY
- Weed whack EVERYTHING.
- PICK UP LITTER. The place, frankly, looks shabby right now and that stinks
- Concentrate on picking up trash on the other side of the road from the Nunnery to the Conservation trailhead.
- Re-string flagpole between Waters and Nelson.
- While the lift is here, place netting over foul poles
- Plant the tree Panera donated
- Put the toilet paper dispenser back up (we may have new ones donated by Pat Coleman actually….)
- Purge the clubhouse of all the crap that has already built up in there
S.O.P: Coaches will be asked to forward this schedule and message to their respective team members and team parents/guardians.
We're asking that all parents and players lend a hand in maintaining the PAL facility
The weekly "tasks" that make up the scheduled maintenance duties are as follows: 1. Mow the fields. 2. Mow the common areas 3. Weed-whack all fence lines (starting with inside the field fences first) 4. Empty garbage cans and put them back 5. If necessary, tie up recycle bags and place them in dumpster enclosure (not IN the dumpster...just inside the dumpster fence) a. Replace the clear recycle bag liner in the blue metal recycling collection frame. 6. Pick up trash around the facility (this is a good 30 minute, post-game, team-oriented task)
Please see Chris Murphy, PAL Facilities & Safety Manager, if you are unclear regarding how to perform any of these jobs. Chis can be reached at 508-736-8665 or through the PAL web site " www.palonline.org"
ONGOING! > SAFETY ! ! ! If you see an issue which in any way compromises the safety of any one visiting the PAL or playing on a PAL field please alert Chris Murphy as promptly as possible and the issue will be immediately addressed.
Standard Lawn Mowing "Rules of the Road":
1. The fields and common areas should be mowed twice per week. Ideally, Wednesdays and Sundays
2. Weed whacking along all fence lines should take place at the same time the fields are mowed 2a. Make inside and outside the field fence lines the first priority for weed whacking 2b. PLEASE! be sure that if you're using the PAL weed whacker that you use the oil gas mixture. We lost a very expensive weed whaker last year because someone mistkenly filled it with straight gas. 3. If you do not know how to use the John Deere Ride-On mower, ask me or any board member 4. When driving the mower to the lower fields, please drive very s-l-o-w-l-y down the access road. Lots of ruts and rocks that could hurt a nice mower like ours. 5. Dump the clippings well out of sight
6. Every Wednesday is "Weed Whacker Wednesday"…you don’t have to be assigned to mow that week to join the fun of whacking weeds. Come on down and kill some weeds…gas/oil mixture is on the PAL.
Thank you in advance for your assistance. It's only with the help of our PAL community that we are able to maintain our facilities since we are a strictly volunteer organization. |
