The Plainville Athletic League
(PAL) will be sponsoring three $750 scholarships for students (minimum one
boy and one girl) who have attended a local high school and are
planning to continue their education at a vocational school
or college, two-year college, or four-year college or university.
Applicant Requirements:
- A graduate of the Class of 2008
- Have played a minimum of four
(4) years of league play in the PAL
- Completed the PAL Scholarship
Application
- Submit a brief essay (two hundred
words or less) that relates an activity, lesson, or memory you
recall from your time spent at the PAL, and how this experience
will help prepare you for the future.
- Applications must be postmarked
by May 17, 2008 and received by
May 20, 2008 for consideration.
The applicants will be checked
to confirm league scholarship parameters. The PAL Board of Directors
will choose a group of finalists based upon
a blind reading of the essays submitted. The winners will be chosen from that finalists group by a vote among
the PAL Board and Scholarship Committee.
The applicant does not have to
have participated in baseball or softball after leaving the PAL;
this is not an award being presented to the most accomplished
graduating student-athlete or prolific student; nor is it being
presented to the applicant who may have the greatest financial
need (all which are subject to debate). It is simply a gift to
three PAL alumni who have met the qualifications presented by the
league. The scholarship application
